Exhibit aims to encourage respectful dialogue

In response to Cynthia Dalsing's recent editorial on July 26, I appreciate the East Bonner County Library for providing community organizations with opportunities to educate the public and share information. Libraries have long been places where people can learn, explore new ideas, and engage with perspectives that may differ from their own.

The recent criticism of 7B Care Clinic's display overlooks its purpose. Our display focused on fetal development, using scientifically accurate models to illustrate the remarkable stages of human growth before birth. Based on established embryology, the display was educational in nature — not graphic, political, or intended to shame anyone. Its purpose was simply to help visitors better understand prenatal human development.

I was saddened to read that the display caused pain for someone who has experienced pregnancy loss. Many of the women we serve have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or other pregnancy complications, and it is our privilege to walk beside them with compassion, practical support, and hope. Our display was never intended to diminish anyone's grief.

Every day, 7B Care Clinic provides free medical services, education, and support to women and families in our community. We are grateful that the library provides space for respectful dialogue and the exchange of ideas. Even individuals gathering signatures in support of reproductive rights outside the library were not prohibited from expressing their views.

Whether someone agrees with our mission or not, I hope we can all agree that learning about human development and engaging in respectful dialogue strengthens our community.
