Get down at the Whitefish Trail Hootenanny fundraiser Aug. 21

The Whitefish Trail Hootenanny, a fundraiser for the Whitefish Trail and Whitefish Legacy Partners, is ready to jam Aug. 21 at Depot Park in Whitefish. 

The event, which will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m., features live music, children's activities, food trucks and local craft beer. Participants are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to the event. There will be a bicycle obstacle course for children. 

Whitefish-based band Hotdäyum! kicks off the night with their seven-piece sonic powerhouse offering an electrifying mix of groove, melody and improvisation. The New Wave Time Trippers then take the stage for a totally tubular 80s dance party. 

A raffle will also be held with prizes that include two Alaska Airlines unrestricted round-trip tickets, whitewater rafting trips, fishing trips, a season ski pass, mountain bike, snowboard and restaurant and lodging gift certificates.  

People do not have to be present to win. Raffle tickets are one for $5, five for $20 and 30 for $100 and may be purchased at the event and at the Whitefish Legacy Partners office, 525 Railway, Suite 206, Whitefish. Tickets will also be sold at a "Hootenanny pop-up" outside Blackstar BrewPub, 2 Central Ave. In Whitefish, at 5 p.m. Aug. 18. 

Tickets to the Hootenanny are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate and may be purchased at whitefishlegacy.org and at the event. Children 12 and under free.  

The Whitefish Trail is the cornerstone project of the nonprofit Whitefish Legacy Partners and provides public access and managed recreation while protecting water, forests and prime wildlife habitat on lands surrounding Whitefish. The trail covers 50 miles of natural surface, non-motorized trails and 15 trailheads that are accessible from town.
