MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man was booked on suspicion of possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of firearms after a search of his home turned up four guns he allegedly wasn’t allowed to possess.

Donte Scott, 36, was arrested Wednesday by officers of the Moses Lake Police Department Street Crimes Unit, according to an MLPD media release.

Scott had allegedly been trying to purchase a firearm, the release said, even though he was not allowed to have firearms.

“A little bit of good detective work also turned up evidence that Scott was currently in possession of a shotgun,” it said.

Law enforcement officers obtained a search warrant for Scott’s home.

“With assistance from the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team, SCU detectives arrested Scott and executed a search warrant at his residence in Hill Street, the MLPD release said. “Detectives located four firearms in the residence, as well as four ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, assorted marijuana products, packaging materials, scales and cash.”

Scott was booked into the Grant County Jail on four counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of attempted first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance and false swearing, according to jail records.
