Garner's slam lifts Range Riders Wednesday

BILLINGS — Another night, another grand slam for the Range Riders.
On Tuesday it was Donovan Ratfield and Wednesday Carson Garner went long to clear the bases as Glacier nabbed a 7-1 victory over Billings in Pioneer League Baseball at Dehler Park.
Garner sent a 2-1 pitch in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and put the Range Riders (8-18 in the second half) in control the rest of the evening.
Carson Hornung opened the scoring for Glacier in the second inning, doubling down the right field line to score Logan Beard and make it 1-0.
On the mound, Aiden Elfering was dealing. He allowed one run over six innings of work on six hits. Elfering sat down nine Mustangs (14-12 in the second half).
The one run for Billings came in the sixth inning with John McHenry's RBI double to right center plating Justin Johnson Jr.
Garner had the quick response in the seventh before Jake Millan added a pair of insurance runs for Glacier with a single that brought in Hornung and Beard and made it 7-1.
Lance Wade closed out the final two innings for Glacier, scattering a pair of hits and fanning two.
Mitch Dye tossed six innings for Billings, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out six.
The teams continued their six-game series Thursday evening at 6:35 p.m.
