CITY OF KOOTENAI, IDAHO  SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE # 241   TITLE 7, CHAPTER 1, BUILDING CODES AND REGULATIONS  KOOTENAI CITY CODE    SUMMARY: The City of Kootenai adopted Ordinance #241 on August 4, 2026, amending Kootenai City Code Title 7, Chapter 1, Building Codes and Regulations, to:  Update references to the nationally recognized building and fire codes and exemptions adopted by the State of Idaho; amend ground snow load, roof snow load, and wind design standards for construction; set a minimum roof snow load standard; require a zoning permit for review of exempt structures; establish building permit application requirements and standards of review; define occupancy; require written confirmation of required site improvements; set expiration dates; allow extensions for building permits and temporary occupancy certificates; establish a process for permit revocation or abandonment if work does not start or ceases for 180 days or longer; provide that a permit can be suspended or revoked if work is in violation of permit or is issued in error or on basis of incorrect information. The penalties section was amended and is provided in full text below:    7-1-11 PENALTY:   Any person who violates any provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined not more than three hundred dollars ($300.00), or imprisoned for not more than ninety (90) days, or both fine and imprisonment. A separate violation is deemed to have occurred with respect to each building or structure not in compliance with this chapter and each day such violation continues constitutes a separate offense.
