Wilson reaches semis at Junior Girls' Amateur
MOSCOW — Ella Wilson, a rising junior at Coeur d'Alene High, advanced as far as the semifinals at the 70th Pacific Northwest Girls' Junior Amateur Championship at the University of Idaho Golf Course.
Wilson fell in the semis on Thursday, 3 and 2, to Amanda Peng of Bellevue, Wash.
In the finals on Friday, Peng lost 3 and 2 to Niuniu Zhao of Woodinville, Wash.
Wilson finished tied for sixth in the 36-hole qualifying.
In the Round of 16 on Wednesday, she beat Jiwoo (Irene) Lee of North Vancouver, British Columbia 1-up.
In the quarterfinals earlier Thursday, Wilson beat Ira Upadhyay of Issaquah, Wash., 2 and 1.
Emily Stillert, a rising sophomore at Coeur d'Alene High, reached the Round of 16, where she fell 6 and 5 to eventual champion Zhao.
