KUDOS: To the Idaho Heritage Trust in Post Falls
Kudos to the Idaho Heritage Trust, their staff and architectural historians who have helped Post Falls and communities throughout Idaho in the preservation of local historic sites.
With the rapid growth of Post Falls, the old downtown and surrounding areas are losing historic structures that provide the perspective and respect for the past efforts of our ancestors.
In Post Falls, members of the Post Falls Historical Society and other non-profit community organizations have helped restore City properties including the Chapin Drug Store, currently housing the all-volunteer Post Falls Museum, the Mullan Statue, the Corbin Ditch headgate. In addition, Society members and the IHT have helped preserve the JAAC and the Pleasant View School.
The Idaho Heritage Trust was started by the legislature during the Idaho Centennial (1990) to assist communities throughout Idaho in the preservation of local history. The Trust is funded by volunteer donations and a small percentage of money received in the purchase of the red, white and blue Idaho license plates.
IHT has provided the City of Post Falls a detailed preservation plan for the 103 year old Chapin building, which the City has owned since 1979.
Thank you, Idaho Heritage Trust, for your help of preservation projects in Post Falls and throughout Idaho. I hope Idahoans keep those red, white and blue license plates celebrating America250 this year and beyond.
