Briefs: Cats' Logie gets extension; Junior's a Jet; Carmen Adams ace

BOZEMAN — Montana State head men’s basketball coach Matt Logie received a four-year contract extension that takes him through the 2029-30 season, MSU director of athletics Leon Costello announced on Wednesday.
“Matt Logie has established himself as an outstanding leader, and we are thrilled to announce this extension,” Costello said. “He has built a culture centered on championship-level expectations, the development of our student-athletes, and a genuine commitment to Montana State and the Bozeman community.”
Logie led the Bobcats to an 18-14 overall record in 2025-26, including 12-6 in Big Sky play and 11-2 in Worthington Arena, all three marks the best of Logie’s three-year tenure.
The Bobcats earned their first season sweep over in-state rival Montana since 2022-23 and saw four players land All-Big Sky honors, highlighted by Jed Miller’s unanimous first-team selection.
Logie’s first team won the program’s third straight Big Sky Tournament title in 2024. His record with the Bobcats is 50-50, including 31-25 in Big Sky games.
Junior Bergen signed by Jets
Montana Grizzly great Junior Bergen was signed by the New York Jets Wednesday, one week after being released by the San Francisco 49ers.
Bergen, listed at 5-foot-9 and 184 pounds, was drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft after matching the FCS record with eight career punt return touchdowns.
An all-purpose player, the Billings Senior product scored 26 touchdowns for the Grizzlies: 13 receiving, four rushing and nine on special teams.
UM’s White has 38 catches for Redblacks
The Ottawa Redblacks are off to a rocky 0-9 start to this Canadian Football League season, but Montana Grizzlies product Keelan White is having a solid campaign.
The Vancouver, Britich Columbia product has 38 catches for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He was the Redblacks’ first-round pick — third overall — in the 2025 CFL Draft. He had 46 receptions for 482 yards and two TDs in 18 games as a rookie.
Ottawa has a league-high 17 players on the six-game injured list heading into a Thursday game at 8-1 Montreal.
Whitefish GC ace for Adams
WHITEFISH — Carmen Adams made a hole-in-one on No. 15 of the Whitefish Lake Golf Club’s North Course on Tuesday.
