Cathy Reich, 64, passed away on July 19, 2026, in Missoula.

Born on May 30, 1962 in Portland, Ore., Cathy lived a life enriched by her love of learning, teaching, and her deep compassion for animals. Cathy's educational journey began at Acton Public School in Massachusetts and continued at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. She later earned a Masters in the Art of Teaching at Regis College in Massachusetts.

Her academic background in sociology and history laid the foundation for a career dedicated to education including 25 years at Superior JH/HS. Cathy shared her knowledge with both adults and students across a variety of subjects, leaving a lasting impact on those she taught.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Cathy had a passion for genealogy and spent time exploring family histories and connections. Her love extended beyond people to animals as well; she was known for her kindness and care toward all creatures.

Cathy married James (Jim) Goss on April 30, 1994. After living in Massachusetts, they moved to Superior Montana in 1999.

Cathy is survived by her husband and her sisters, Debra Reich and Laurie Veillette and her two nieces, Noelle and Keira Veillette. She was predeceased by her parents, William Reich and Catherine (Kay) Reich. Cathy also leaves behind her beloved cats Cheddar, Calliope, Queenie, and Smiley, and rabbits Amber & Mica. Cathy's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A celebration of life will take place on Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. in the Superior High School multipurpose room. There will also be a gathering in Massachusetts later in the Fall for her east coast friends. In lieu of flowers consider donations to a charity with details available at the Sept. 26 event.
