PRIEST RIVER — "Citizen of the Year" isn't just a title or an award.
It is, Priest River Chamber of Commerce officials said, the embodiment of what makes the community so special.
And no one better exemplifies what Priest River is all about than Brandon Goins, who was named the chamber's Citizen of the Year for 2026, said Tiffiny Simpkins of the chamber.
"It’s a reflection of heart, generosity and a genuine commitment to lifting others up. This year’s recipient embodies all of that and more," Simpkins said.
The chamber received multiple nominations for Goins, with community residents sharing stories of his generosity and the many ways he has made a difference.
"It’s clear that his impact is not only seen, but deeply felt throughout our community," she said.
Among those nominating Goins was Katlyn Ward, who praised the longtime resident's dedication to his hometown.
"He has done so much for our community, especially for our schools," she added.
Also nominating Goins was Chris Simpkins, who said his countless hours of work and contributions to the community and local schools make the longtime resident the perfect pick for the honor.
"Thank you cannot be said enough to him and his family," Chris Simpkins said.
The time and money Goins, his family and his business have dedicated to making their community a better place are beyond monetary contributions. It is showing up when needed, without being asked, with a cheerful smile and a desire to make the community better.
"They have gone above and beyond," he said.
Goins consistently shows up for Priest River. It might be through his support of local schools one day, or giving back where it’s needed most the next or quietly making a difference behind the scenes.
His generosity speaks louder than words ever could, Simpkins said.
"What makes Brandon special isn’t just what he gives; it’s how he gives," she said. "With kindness and a true desire to see our community thrive."
The community is "stronger, kinder and more connected" because of people like Goins, who is known throughout Priest River as an incredible supporter of the community's schools and organizations, but also because he is "a true blessing and asset" to everyone who calls the community home.
"Brandon, thank you for your generosity, your leadership, and your unwavering dedication to this community," Simpkins said. "It is my great honor to present the Priest River Citizen of the Year to Brandon Goins."
