Hungry Horse News | UPDATED 1 hour, 13 minutes AGO
Linda Rae Hoerner, 79, passed away on July 17, 2026, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by the ones she loved. She is now in God’s hands.
Linda was born February 9, 1947. She attended Columbia Falls schools and spent her life working hard. Whether it was helping build homes, working as a nurse’s aide at the Montana Veterans Home or office management at WBC, Linda gave herself fully to what she did.
During her years at the Veterans Home, she formed many lasting friendships. She later retired from WBC so she could spend more time with her grandchildren and family.
Linda’s greatest joy was her family. Linda was able to devote a lot of time in her younger years to her two oldest great granddaughters.
Camping, fishing, carving pumpkins, and chilling while watching their favorite cartoons. Her health made it harder with her younger great grandchildren, but she cherished the times when she was able to visit with them.
Loving and ever-protective, Linda was a constant presence in the lives of those she loved.
She was the kind of person her family could always count on, and her outpouring of love and support will be cherished forever.
In her free time, Linda enjoyed crime movies, playing card games, and doing puzzles with friends and family. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with her husband, Ed Hoerner, and their family. She treasured the simple moments they spent together, creating countless memories along the way.
Linda is survived her two children, Rodney Hoerner and Lisa (David) Connor; her grandchildren, Samantha (Logan) Nolan, Cody (Ruby) Connor, and Savannah Hoerner; her great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Alivia, Magnolia, Piper and Paisley; her great grandsons, Austin and Miles.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Elsie Sonnenberg and loving husband Virgil “Ed” Hoerner.
Linda was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express. Her laughter, love, and even her excessive worrying will live on in the hearts and lives of everyone who knew her.
She is the wind beneath our wings, forever and always.
