The Polson Police Foundation announced in a press release on Monday, Aug. 17 that it received a $5,000 donation from the Kiwanis Club to support the Foundation’s children’s cybersecurity book program.

According to the press release, this funding will help provide age-appropriate cybersecurity books and classroom education to local students. The program teaches children how to recognize online scams, protect their personal information, respond to cyberbullying and make safer, more responsible choices online.

“We are incredibly grateful to Kiwanis for investing in the online safety of our children,” said Brady Phenicie, president of the Polson Police Foundation. “Technology is now a major part of children’s lives, and they need the knowledge to recognize dangers and protect themselves. This donation will help us put these important books directly into students’ hands.”

The Polson Police Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Polson Police Department through funding public safety, education, wellness and community-outreach programs.

The books are designed for students in first grade, sixth grade, and high school freshman classes. Polson police officers will help present the materials and speak with students about online safety, giving children an opportunity to learn directly from trusted members of their community.

Donations like this will allow the foundation to provide books and classroom programs to schools at no cost.
