Our future depends on independent leadership

Bonner County residents know the value of public lands, forests, lakes, small businesses and communities where neighbors still look out for each other.

That Idaho is worth protecting.

That requires more than campaign slogans. It requires leaders who show up, listen and put this state ahead of national party politics.

Jim Risch has been in Washington too long. He just turned 83 and is among the wealthiest members of Congress. Idahoans should ask whether he is still working for us, or whether he has become another career politician who assumes our votes are automatic.

Todd Achilles is offering something different. He is a veteran, an independent, and a candidate who believes Idaho’s future should be decided by Idahoans, not party bosses or political insiders.

Bonner County voters should take this race seriously. If we want to protect the Idaho we love while building a future our kids can afford to stay in, we need independent leadership.

Todd Achilles deserves a serious look.
