Longtime Juneau-ite Daisy Johanna Davenport passed away Dec. 31, 2025, peacefully in Juneau, Alaska, with her family by her side.
Daisy was born March 14, 1942, in Missoula, Mont., to John and Helen Ovnicek. She was the eldest of three children. The family lived in Montana and Idaho. After graduating high school, Daisy married Ronald Halliday and had two daughters, Teresa and Holly.
In 1968, she married Billy Lee Davenport and had two sons, Bryan and Jonny. Billy and Daisy were married for 52 years before Billy passed in 2021.
Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Ovnicek, brother Robert, and a son-in-law, Michael Luerra. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Teresa (Fred), Holly (George), Bryan (Trisha) and Jon, her eight granddaughters and their spouses/partners, Jannessa (Numi), Johanna (Shane), Gennevieve, Roxanne (Daryn), Teja, Marli, Jaden and Tessa, her five great-grandchildren, Chasity, Keleolani, Alexavian, Archer and Ferdinand, her sister, Betty, and numerous extended family including three foster daughters, Julie, Paula and Karen.
Daisy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and her fur-babies, Buster, Mac, Shelly, Java and Lily, to name a few.
Daisy loved the outdoors; she enjoyed hiking, skiing and kayaking, and led many adventures in Alaska. She was also an avid bookworm and participated in book clubs throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Brendan’s Episcopal church and served in many capacities. She enjoyed Rock Steady Boxing and the friendships of others fighting the effects of Parkinson’s.
She is deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at Hayden Lake Eagles, 1520 W. Wyoming Ave., Hayden, ID 83835, at 2 p.m., with refreshments to follow.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations to Juneau, Alaska, Rock Steady Boxing or Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes, or Juneau's St. Brendan's Episcopal Church, in Daisy’s honor would be greatly appreciated.
