Everyone’s purse is feeling the pinch these days, but it doesn’t mean you should miss out on having fun. Coeur d’Alene has a range of free events coming up, guaranteeing a good time without breaking the bank.
• The Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra is bringing its annual “Symphony in the Park” concert to the Rotary Band Shell in Coeur d’Alene City Park at noon on Sept. 7. The concert will run for 1-1.5 hours, featuring classic favorite anthems as well as pieces from beloved film and TV soundtracks.
"We are proud to share the gift of music with our community in such a special way," says the Coeur d'Alene Symphony's Board Chair Lora Whalen. "This concert reflects our mission to make orchestral music accessible and enjoyable for everyone."
Most importantly, admission is free. Everyone is welcome to stop by and enjoy classical music amid the park scenery.
• The Audubon Society is bringing Birds of Prey Northwest founder and biologist Janie Veltkamp to the Coeur d’Alene Public Library on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. Veltkamp offers the opportunity to learn about owls, hawks and eagles while face-to-face with the birds themselves.
Birds of Prey Northwest is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rehabilitating raptors and educating the public to promote wildlife conservation. This event is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to see these majestic birds up close. Admission is free and open to anyone ages 8+.
