SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint High Bulldogs will open their 2026 season with a nonconference showdown against the Twin Falls Bruins tonight at War Memorial Field.

Fresh off a bounce-back 8-3 season a year ago, Sandpoint enters this matchup looking to lean on its star returners. Do-it-all senior Brock Yarbrough will be the name to watch on nearly every play, while senior running back Jensen Sheetz is due to spearhead a multifaceted backfield.

Sandpoint’s head coach Ryan Knowles is giving Logan Iverson the nod as the Bulldogs’ next starting quarterback, replacing star Braden Buckhout.

The Bruins won’t be an easy opener for the Bulldogs; Twin Falls is the defending 5A Great Basin Conference champion and returns star running back Jackson Sattelberg. However, Twin Falls graduated 15 seniors, including all-state offensive lineman Dillon Spenser and its starting quarterback Ty Hess, which could leave it with an experience issue to open the year.

In the Idaho State Media Poll, both teams were unranked in 5A, but Twin Falls received three votes to Sandpoint’s one.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at War Memorial Field with SHS students getting in free and general admission tickets set for $7. More information on the Sandpoint football team can be found in the Daily Bee’s sports preview, located in the C section of Friday’s paper.
