Margaret 'Peggy' F. White, 89
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 56 minutes AGO
Margaret “Peggy” F. White, 89, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, died April 15, 2026. Her parents were Arthur and Margaret Ager. She was born and raised in Pasadena, Calif., where she graduated from high school. She met Don White, the love of her life, while he was in the Marines and on leave in Pasadena. After marrying there in 1955, they moved to Corvallis, Ore., where they completed their college education on his G.I. Bill, and she earned a degree in Home Economics.
They were rich in love, but not money in those first years. They used to tell stories about hunting and fishing daily to put food on the table while living in a tiny little trailer. Mom had a passion for the horse world, and Dad had a passion for forestry and geology, so after school they moved to La Grande, Ore., where they started a small ranch with Arabian horses, and he had a new job with the Forest Service. Late in 1963, they moved to Coeur d’Alene and founded Carrousel Arabians, which many years later became Carrousel Tree Farm. In both cases, they made many friends, both nationally in the Arabian Horse world and locally with the tree farm, helping many families make treasured memories with their children.
Mom wowed everyone with her sparkle for life and her many talents. Among those were gardening, putting up homemade “anything,” wreath making, horse showing and equestrian training, and an amazing Arabian breeding program that was world-renowned. There are too many talents to count. She had an intense love for animals and was a frequent donor to the Humane Society, now known as the Companions Animal Center.
Peggy is survived by her only child, Kim, and son-in-law, Randy. She always said that if anyone wished to do something in her memory, it would be to support Companions Animal Center or the like through a donation or volunteering. Mom is, and always will be, missed, especially by the few friends and small family that surrounded her in her last years. She leaves us with a legacy of love and humanity, with big shoes to fill.
