Shirley Marie Domes, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Hope, Idaho, on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026.
A celebration of life will be held at the Sandpoint Elks Lodge on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, at 3 p.m.
Shirley was born on Oct. 11, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Lloyd and Bertha Clement. She graduated from Hamilton High School.
Shirley married Robert “Bob” Domes on March 23, 1950, in Los Angeles. They made their home in the San Fernando Valley, where they raised their family. After her children were grown, Shirley worked for a chiropractor for about 10 years.
In 1979, Shirley and Bob moved to Hope, Idaho, where they operated the Pend Oreille Landing Resort. They retired in 1993, sold part of the property, and built their home in Hope.
Shirley was active in her church and was known for her generous heart, willingness to help others and a love of volunteering. She served with the Bonner General Hospital Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout and Blue Bird leader in California. She was also a member of Eastern Star and taught tap dancing.
Shirley loved to sing and was a member of her church choir and Sweet Adelines. She was honored as a Woman of Wisdom in 2005. She enjoyed water skiing well into her later years, continuing until she was 78, and performed at the Panida Theater. Shirley had a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit, including a healthy appreciation for sarcasm. She lived a full and active life and brought joy and laughter to those around her.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Patti Clemons of Sandpoint; son, Rob (Linda) Domes of Newbury Park, Calif.; three grandchildren, Diane (Kurt) Stockton, Stephanie Devericks, and Michael (Horoko) Domes; eight great-grandchildren, TJ, Brooke, Ben, Lauren, Evan, Lucille, Gwen, and Susie; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dale Snipes of Sandpoint; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Bertha Clement; her husband, Bob Domes; and her son, Gary Clement Domes.
