Marian Van Helden, 96

Marian Rose Van Helden, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. 

Marian was born to Charles and Delphine Mercier in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, on Aug. 14, 1929. She was one of 13 children. She graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1947, where she met the love of her life, John Van Helden. They were married in 1948. 

In 1951, Marian and John moved to Libby, where they raised their family. Marian devoted her life to raising her children, serving her church, and helping others. She was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful baker and a talented cake decorator. Marian and John shared nearly 72 years of marriage before his passing in 2020.

Marian will be dearly missed by her children and their families: Steve (Naine), Jeff (Jackie), Maria (Mike), Trina (Roy), Pete (Tanya), Joseph (Laurie), and Terri (Austin). She was also the mother of Kristina, who passed away in infancy. Marian was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. 

For the past nine years, Marian made her home at Buffalo Hill Terrace, where she formed many treasured friendships. 

Marian leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, kindness, and love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
