Politics is not done with you

Last month members of my family were able to get together for a weekend visit.

What did we do?  We talked politics.

My father’s genes run strong so it was no surprise that our conversation turned to the May Republican primary and the number of people who did not vote.

In some counties voter turnout percent was in the low 20s. A bit of number crunching showed that people who voted in the 2024 primary sat this one out — by the thousands.

One reason is people are sick of partisan politics and the red-versus-blue finger pointing. Votes with Dems. Votes with Repubs. IFF scores.

They stayed home. They were done with politics. They were done with the labels and the scores. The issues that were important to them fell by the wayside as fake voter guides with scores flooded the mailboxes.

Politics is not done with you!

The people you elect impact your lives. Decisions they make could intrude on every aspect of your life OR ensure government stays in its lane.

If you are disgusted and “done with politics,” the remedy is to vote.

Instead of being done with politics, let’s be done with the party bosses and the partisan fighting.

Join me in declaring independence November 3. Vote for independent candidates.
