POTLATCH – In their first game as a 2A team, the number three ranked Miners opened their season with a win over the Loggers.  

Junior Cooper Miller completed 19 of 24 passing attempts for 347 yards and five touchdowns; he also added 135 yards on the ground.  

Receiver Lennox Radford caught eight of those passes, totaling 202 yards and four touchdowns during the game.  

Wallace (1-0), led at halftime, but was held scoreless in the fourth quarter as Potlatch attempted to come back. The Loggers had two failed two-point conversions in the quarter.  

The Miners will host Genesee on Friday at Sather Field in a rematch from the state quarterfinals a year ago.  

KELLOGG FOOTBALL

Kellogg 6 Bonners Ferry 28 

KELLOGG – For roughly 40 minutes, the Wildcats and Badgers played each other to a 6-6 tie, but a pair of interceptions gave Bonners the momentum they needed to blow the game open over the final minutes.  

The Badgers, using a smashmouth running game, scored on their first drive - chewing up 97 yards and seven minutes of clock to take an early lead.  

Kellogg (0-1) struggled to find offensive consistency, stacking missed opportunities and penalties throughout the contest. An interception by Porter Lewis midway through the third quarter gave Kellogg starting field position inside the redzone and a few plays later, Lewis scampered in for the tying score.  

The Wildcats will be on the road this Friday as they open their Central Idaho League conference schedule against the new reclassified Logos School, in Moscow.  

KELLOGG SOCCER

Kellogg 3 St. Maries 2 

ST. MARIES – In the program's first match in over five years, the visiting Wildcats rallied from a 0-2 halftime deficit and defeated the host Lumberjacks.  

Wildcats Fynnlee Cunningham, Emma Ruppert, and Colette Abernathy each scored in the match, but it was Ana Miller who coach Gabe Louthan credited for the team's resilient performance.  

"She was killer as our center back to stop any offensive attacks," Louthan said. "She never came out of the game."  

The Wildcats host Grangeville this Thursday at Teeters Field.  

KELLOGG VOLLEYBALL  

- 8/21-22 

RIRIE – The Kellogg Wildcats took second place at the Ririe Bulldog Bash. 

The round-robin event features several teams from southeastern Idaho, playing two-set matches. Matches can be wins, losses, or draws depending on the outcome.  

Butte County won the Bash, finishing with an 8-0 record. This included a win over the Wildcats.
