Whitefish girls, Polson boys cruise in Columbia Falls

COLUMBIA FALLS — There was no doubt left from the Whitefish girls on the golf course Monday at Columbia Falls Invitational.  

The Bulldogs put three golfers inside the top seven and ran away with the team score, shooting a 363 to beat second-place Corvallis by 53 strokes.  

Senior Rhylee Scott led the way, shooting an 88 to earn the top spot by one stroke. 

Right behind her was teammate Karlee Brown, who tied with Jillian Wagner at 89. Corvallis’ Kirsten Race followed with a 90 in fourth. 

Caroline Owens gave Whitefish another good score, shooting a 97 to tie for sixth place. 

On the boys side, Polson’s Max Milton led the Pirates to the team title after a first-place score of 65.  

Milton's 7-under performance was 12 strokes ahead of second place. Bigfork’s Tytan Rogers and Ronan’s Liam Castor were the closest challengers, each shooting 77. 

Carson Emerson added a 79 for Polson and finished fifth as the Pirates shot a team score of 318. Whitefish was second at 332, followed by Ronan at 352. 

Columbia Falls finished fourth at 359, led by Austin Hall, who tied for ninth with an 84. Bigfork was seventh with a 373, while Libby finished ninth at 470. 

Polson finished just one stroke behind Corvallis for third on the girls side with a 417, while Whitefish’s 53-stroke victory was the largest margin of the day.
