The Red Devil rebuild begins with a 6-Man game against an 8-Man opponent.

Coach Lucas MacArthur and his 6-Man Noxon football team open season play with a game in St. Regis against the 8-Man Tiger Cats Friday night. MacArthur said the Devils’ original 6-Man opponents scheduled for this week were forced to cancel season play due to low numbers. St. Regis and Noxon were able to put the make-up game together at the last minute as St. Regis had lost their game with Victor for the same reason as Noxon did.

Coming off a 5-4 season and a playoff appearance last year, the Red Devils will be rebuilding this fall after losing All-State players and team leaders Justice Kayser and Cam Wengert to graduation. MacArthur said he has 12 players out so far.

“We’re still in wait and see mode with school starting this week,” he said. "We are hoping a few more turn out.”

MacArthur said that only two of his returning players have very much varsity experience. “We don’t really know what we are going to look like until we get a few games in,” he said. "We scrimmaged with Clark Fork last week and that was good.

“We’ll have a better idea of what we have going after these first few weeks,” he added.
