SANDPOINT — Both the Sandpoint High boys and girls cross-country teams were victorious over the weekend, knocking off Timberlake in a two-and-a-half-mile run at Pine Street Woods. 

The Lady Bulldogs were utterly dominant on Saturday, claiming five of the top six finish spots. Sandpoint was led by Elizabeth Storms (17:20), who finished second and was followed closely by Charli Hall (17:41) and Sophie Brubaker (17:42).  

A few seconds later, Delaney Barron (17:46) and Ruthie Laughridge (17:47) crossed the finish line to round out the Sandpoint point scorers. As a team, the Bulldogs cruised to a 14-26 victory over Timberlake. 

On the boys side, it was a far more balanced meet. Sandpoint’s star Kai Budensiek was the first to cross the line (13:15), posting the fastest time by 14 seconds, but Timberlake was close behind and grabbed the next two finishing spots.  

For Sandpoint, Cy Marshall (13:54) and Hobbes Conley (14:07) stepped up big time to help the Bulldogs’ point situation, scoring four and five, respectively. While the Tigers claimed the next two spots, a duo of Bulldogs, Landon Connor (14:21) and Jack Lovin (14:25), helped secure a narrow 25-27 victory for Sandpoint. 

Sandpoint will join several regional teams when they head to the Libby Cross Country Meet in Montana this Friday, Aug. 28.
