Spikers have 5 seniors and high hopes for year

The Columbia Falls volleyball team should be a force to reckon with this season, with five seniors and plenty of other returning talent looking to make a run into the postseason.
“We have height and it’s tough to defend height,” coach Jolandie Brooks said.
The team has five seniors in Rylee Sweeney, Kamyrn Ladenburg, Annabelle Middlesworth, Louisa Miller and Gabby Riley. They also return players Peyton Ross, Jezanie Brooks, libero Ava Scholz and a host of other talent.
The team also welcomes Hannah Schweikert, a Columbia Falls Hall of Fame athlete and volleyball player, who played college ball for Carroll College for four years as well.
Schweikert will coach the JV team.
“We’re excited to have Hannah,” Brooks said.
“It’s fun to come back,” Schweikert said.
The goal is to make it to the state tourney and make a deep run from there.
Brooks said the teams to beat in the conference are Polson and Whitefish. In the east Billings Central is always tough. The girls open the season Friday and Saturday with the Northwest-Southwest tip-off tourney. Their first home match is against Libby on Sept. 5, with freshmen starting at 1 p.m.
