Trotters kicking it with strong volleyball turnout

Plains Trotter volleyball is booming right now.
Trotter coach Kim Lakko reports that 30 girls have turned out for the sport in Plains, and that the large energetic group is having a lot of fun getting ready for regular season action.
The Trotters begin season play at the one-day Mission Tournament Saturday.
Lakko says practice so far has been a joy. “It’s been very fun, very positive,” she said. “The girls have been looking good and we have been getting incredible senior leadership from our core group.”
Jaycee Carr, Aubree Butcher, Mila Rvinius, Taryn Meredith, Mandy Brubaker and Claire Lakko are the Trotters’ senior leaders coach was referring to. Claire Lakko (first team) and junior Hadyn Rice (second team) are Plains’ returning District 7B all-conference players.
Coach Lakko said that a well-organized summer volleyball program in Plains is paying dividends at the high school level. “The girls have gained a lot of valuable experience with the program,” she offered, “and we’re seeing it pay off with the high school team.”
She thinks the District 7B race should be a good one, and expects her Trotters to be right in the middle of it.
“Each year is a new chance,” she said. “We expect District 7B to very competitive and look forward to our conference matches.”
Lakko’s assistant coaches are Jesse Butcher and Kim Earhart and, with 30 players, all three will be very busy this season.
