Geraldine "Gerry" Smith lived 91 years exactly the way she wanted to.

Gerry passed away peacefully July 6, 2026, one day after celebrating her 91st birthday surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.

Graveside services will be held at the Pack River Cemetery at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026. Following the graveside will be a celebration of her life at Wood’s Crushing and Hauling, 933 Woodside Road, Sandpoint, Idaho.

Born in Darlington, Idaho, in 1935, Gerry embraced life with an adventurous spirit that never faded. She was happiest on the open road in her motorhome, on a country western dance floor, gathered around a cribbage table, or visiting with family and friends. Independent, fearless, and wonderfully sassy, Gerry believed life was meant to be enjoyed. She taught those around her to work hard, be grateful for what they had, and never let age stand in the way of another adventure.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Smith; her son, Mike Smith; and her brothers, Kenny and Milford.

Gerry is survived by her children, Dan Smith and Larri Ann Smith; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends who will forever remember her laughter, her love of dancing, and her unwavering zest for life.

Her family finds comfort knowing that somewhere the music is playing, the dance floor is open, and Gerry is dancing once again.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Gerry’s online memorial at lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
