MOSCOW —  The Bonners Ferry High Badgers cruised to a win in their opening match against Moscow on Saturday, taking all three sets (25-18, 25-10, 25-14) in the non-league matchup.

PRIEST RIVER — The Badgers would not be denied a victory over the Priest River Lamanna High Spartans in a non-league matchup in Priest River on Monday night. 

The Spartans jumped out to a two-set lead (25-22, 25-22) but lost momentum in the final three sets (25-23, 25-18, 15-1) and never regained it. For the Badgers, the gritty win was one for the memory books, at least for head coach Cynthia Cummings.

"I can't actually remember the last time we've come back from a down two sets to win the game," Cummings said. "I can't even remember that in the last seven years."

Junior outside hitter McKinley Burgess-Duquette led Priest River with nine kills and three service aces, while senior Raygn Turner followed closely with six kills and two blocks. Freshman Ava Griesemer also contributed two blocks. Senior Haylee Jepson-Church led the Spartans with 15 assists, and senior Callie Stanger posted a team-leading 10 digs.
