Beauty Bay temporarily closing

The Bureau of Land Management on Friday said it will temporarily close the Beauty Bay Recreation Site starting Sept. 8.

The Bureau of Land Management will temporarily close the Beauty Bay Recreation Site from Sept. 8 to Oct. 8 while crews remove hazardous trees and conduct vegetation management to improve forest health and public safety, according to a Friday press release.
The project includes commercial timber harvesting and removal of trees killed or weakened by pine beetle infestations. The site will remain closed while work is underway to protect public safety during harvest removal operations, the release said.
The site closure area is about 11 miles southeast of Coeur d’Alene on Highway 97.
Beauty Bay Recreation Area offers a highway rest stop with a small picnic area near the edge of the forest.
