Kolbe Coey, a redshirt freshman defensive back from Coeur d’Alene High, had a team-high eight tackles and an interception he returned 12 yards for Carroll in a 30-14 win over Montana State-Northern nonconference in the season opener for both schools at Nelson Stadium in Helena, Mont., on Thursday.
Carroll quarterback Kaden Huot completed 23 of 31 for 372 yards and two touchdowns.
University of Mary 23, Rocky Mountain 10: At Glendive, Mont., Ryan Blair, a transfer from Whitworth in Spokane, threw two touchdowns to Karsyn Jablonski to send the Marauders of Bismarck, N.D., past the Battlin’ Bears at Perham Field at the Oakland Athletic Complex.
Jayson Cady, a redshirt freshman defensive back from Coeur d’Alene, had six tackles for Rocky Mountain.
