PREP VOLLEYBALL: Post Falls sweeps at Lakeland

RATHDRUM — Post Falls and Lakeland, rivals on the Prairie separated by some 7 miles, clashed in a fast-paced, energetic match won by the visiting Trojans over the Hawks, 25-21, 25-17, 25-14 on Thursday night at Hawk Court. 

Freshman Peyton Barclift had 17 kills and eight digs for Post Falls (2-0). Lucy Carr had 17 assists, Teresa Smith five kills, 10 digs and two aces, Annabelle Tucker five kills, Jade Laos eight digs. 

For Lakeland (3-4), Anabel Bowie had six kills and seven blocks, Jolie Warren five kills and 13 digs, Kindell Day 14 assists, Jaeli Hoffman 12 assists, Emma Beaty 11 digs and four aces. 

"Post Falls played with a fast tempo and did a great job keeping rallies alive, picking up several of our aggressive attacks,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Anabel was a force at the net, making her presence felt throughout the match with strong attacking and net play. Kindell also made a huge impact with numerous hustle plays, chasing down tough balls and finding ways to keep rallies alive when it looked like the point was over.” 

Post Falls plays host to Lewiston on Saturday.  

Lakeland returns to action next Thursday at Lake City.

Sandpoint 

SANDPOINT — Junior Marly Sutich had 12 kills and two blocks as the visiting Vikings swept the Bulldogs 25-16, 25-12, 25-22 in nonleague play at Les Rogers Court. 

“Marly was aggressive at the net tonight,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “She put up a strong block and gave us a spark both offensively and defensively.” 

Embree McKeown had 16 digs for Coeur d’Alene (10-1). Hannah Shafer had 21 assists and three aces, Emily Hackett 16 assists, nine digs and three aces. 

“Embree was outstanding defensively,” Curtis said. “She read the hitters well, covered a lot of the court, and kept difficult balls alive. Our setters did a great job of moving the ball around and getting hitters open.” 

Freshman Lola Ruggiero had six kills and two blocks. 

“Lola showed a lot of fire, and made a big impact when we needed her,” Curtis said. 

Sandpoint is 1-3. 

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Post Falls on Tuesday.

WALLACE — The Saints improved to 3-0 by defeating the Miners 25-20, 21-25, 25-13, 25-23 in a nonleague match at Kirby Krulitz Court. 

Sophomore Therese Junkin had 18 assists, sophomore Espi Klocko 26 digs for Coeur du Christ.

"The girls played awesome again," Saints coach Mason Trevena said. "This team drive and hustle is the best I've seen."

Junior Lauren Voorhees had five kills and 15 digs, senior Kayden Stutzke six digs, freshman Danica Valley eight digs and freshman Emily Elliott four aces, four kills and eight digs for Wallace (1-2), which travels to Priest River on Saturday. 

Coeur du Christ travels to Kootenai Classical of Post Falls next Thursday.

CLARK FORK — The visiting Knights (0-2) fell to the Wampus Cats (2-0) 25-19, 25-23, 25-20 in nonleague play. 

No other information was available.

Lakeside returns to action Wednesday at home vs. Kootenai.

Genesis Prep

COEUR d’ALENE — The host Jaguars won the first set before the Warriors responded to win 22-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-4 in nonleague play at Holy Family Catholic School. 

Jaycie Wise had six aces in the first set for Genesis Prep (0-2), which returns to action next Thursday at Clark Fork. 

Kootenai (1-1) plays at Kootenai Classical Academy in Post Falls on Tuesday.
