It may only be an eight-week season, but Glacier soccer is focused on the here and now.

The Wolfpack boys — guided by Ryan Billiet in his 13th season — are using the early season to continue growing together as a squad. 

“Our focus right now is just establishing the foundation,” Billiet said. “We are trying not to look too far forward. We are looking after the core of the program right now.” 

Helping build that foundation is a group of 13 varsity returners from 2026, including the three Wolfpack captains: seniors Isaac Weaks and Kyler Hardman and junior Nash Lisowski. 

Billiet notes that the team’s talent doesn’t end there as Nash’s twin brother Grant Lisowski returns for his junior season after earning All-State honors last fall. 

Another All-State in Brecken Evenson returns as a forward. His 37 points in 2026 led the Wolfpack and was tied for third in Western AA. 

Zander Schmautz returns for his sophomore campaign after being named all-conference as a freshman. 

In net is Jack Young — brother of last season’s senior captain and goalkeeper Silas Young — along with freshman Landon Travis. 

Billiet says that right now they are working to elevate the program standard on and off the field. 

“We trust all of our guys and we continue to grow with depth this year to be able to take the next steps this year,” Billiet said. 

The Glacier girls begin year one of the Ryan Thompson Era after he replace Doug Mello with the latter taking a job as the Tactical Director for the Philippines national futsal team. 

Thompson spent last season as an assistant to Mello but has three years of experience coaching at the high school level and was an assistant at Bethel University (Minn.) — his alma mater — for five seasons. 

Thompson says he is excited about the squad. 

“This group of girls are extremely talented and a wonderful group to be around,” Thompson said. “They have the talent to do really well, but we are working on the closeness and the bond.” 

The Wolfpack are a younger group once again with Kylie Shine as the lone senior on the roster. The defender is in her fourth season on the varsity squad. 

Joining Shine is a talented group of players that includes four returning All-State or all-conference selections. 

Gracie Winkler had 18 goals and 9 assists —her 45 points were second most in the Western AA  —and was All-State a year ago as a sophomore. Neve Travis, Bailey Dahlman and Lucy Holloway were all-conference.

The girls, 9-4-2 a year ago,  face a tough task right away as they meet with Helena Friday and Capital Saturday to open the season.
