• The Hayden Senior Center is reminding everyone that “old is gold” at its third annual Miles for Smiles Cruise and Car Show on Sept. 5. Vintage cars built before 1988 will line up outside the Shriners Event Center at 9 a.m. before cruising to several elder care facilities to bring smiles and happy memories to residents between 10 and 11:30 a.m.
A sloppy joe lunch will be available for $10 afterward for the first 30 attendees. A costume contest, car viewing, silent auction and 50/50 raffle will take place until 1:30 p.m.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend. However, there is a $10 fee to participate in the car show, which is limited to 30 cars. The registration deadline is Sept. 2. Email [email protected] or call 208-762-7052 for more information.
• Country music fans don’t need to look farther than Spokane Valley next weekend for one of the biggest annual events in country music. The Northwest Country Music Association is kicking off this year’s award season with a music festival featuring 2025 award-winning bands.
The family-friendly event takes place Sept. 5 and 6 at The Social in Spokane Valley and features performances across two stages, plus food and drinks. Performers include Spencer Lendon, Mel Dalton Band, Copper Mountain Band, Rusty Jackson and Tamarack Ridge Band, among others.
Tickets are available online starting at $33.55 for general admission for both days. General admission tickets are standing room only, or attendees can bring their own chairs. VIP tickets guarantee a seat for $65.87. You can purchase tickets online at www.eventbrite.com/e/nw-cma-fest-tickets.
• With three days left to enjoy the North Idaho State Fair, there are just three more opportunities to witness the Gem State Stampede PRCA Rodeos at Findlay Arena. This evening’s rodeo at 6:30 p.m. is Tough Enough to Wear Pink, a breast cancer awareness event sponsored by Kootenai Health.
Tomorrow’s rodeo at 6:30 p.m. is Patriot Night, sponsored by North 40 Outfitters. The final rodeo of the season will be a 3 p.m. matinee Sunday. The theme is Family Night, sponsored by Tractor Supply Co.
