SANDPOINT — A hat trick from Aleeya Anaya and a litany of other goals helped the Sandpoint High Bulldogs best the Bonners Ferry Badgers 10-1 at War Memorial Field on Thursday night.

The non-league victory is the first for the Bulldogs in 2026, improving their record to 1-2 in the young season. Alan Brinkmeier said the team’s focuses heading into the game were possession, creating quality chances and finishing. 

Sandpoint did the last two terrifically in the first half, finding the back of the net five times in the first 40 minutes. Despite the early lead, Brinkmeier said his team was a bit too careless with the ball. 

“Second half the goal was to keep our touches at three or under and then finding our pass,” Brinkmeier said. “They did just that, and after we stayed moving the ball quicker, the goals followed.” 

The goals did indeed follow. With the Lady Bulldogs keeping up the offensive pressure throughout the latter half of the game, they scored another five times in the second half to extend their dominance.  

In addition to Anaya’s three goals, seniors Bayah Ratigan and Jordyn Tomco both notched a brace, contributing two goals each. The trio of Ella Lett, Vivian Haag and Hadley Chartey also scored a goal against the Badgers. 

Despite going down early, the Bonners Ferry continued to fight throughout the contest. The Badgers finally broke through the Bulldogs’ backline late in the game with Marley Pauls drawing and then scoring a penalty kick. 

"It was a great learning experience for us and showed us some areas to continue focusing on," Badgers head coach Emily Winebark said of the game.

Sandpoint is back at War Memorial Field on Saturday morning for a game against the Post Falls Trojans scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. 

“Our hope is to continue this momentum into Saturday's game against Post Falls,” Brinkmeier said. 

Bonners Ferry is also back in action on Saturday for a road game against Grangeville at 12 p.m.
