Bobcats roll past Utah Tech

ST. GEORGE, Utah — The top-ranked Bobcats showed why they are a force to be reckoned with once again.
Justin Lamson threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns as the Bobcats cruised past Big Sky Conference debutant Utah Tech xx-0 Saturday at Greater Zion Stadium.
Lamson added a six yard score on the ground as well.
Lamson got the offense rolling early with a 55-yard touchdown pass to Dane Steel to give Montana State a 7-0 lead. Steel led Montana State with 174 yards receiving on eight catches.
Taco Dowler added seven catches for Montana State (1-0 overall, 1-0 in conference) for 39 yards. Dowler also set the Big Sky record for punt return yards in a career.
Utah Tech quarterback Bronson Barben tallied 78 yards passing.
The Bobcat defense and special teams also got in on the fun on a warm evening in southern Utah.
A blocked punt returned for a 16-yard touchdown by Xavier Ahrens helped Montana State take a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter.
In the fourth quarter Brendon Ross intercepted Barben and took it back for another Bobcat score to make it 54-0.
Adam Jones started his campaign with a quiet night on the ground, running for 35 yards on 11 carries with one touchdown. He also caught two passes for 13 yards.
The Bobcats now return home for a matchup with Butler in Week 1 with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
