Cougars plan to reload for this season
WARDEN — The Warden Cougars are deep in their preparations for their second season under Head Coach Brent Cox. As the early season practices continue, both players and coaches alike are looking forward to what they can accomplish this season. “I’m just really excited to get back out there,” said Cox. “We had a good spring football training, got a lot of our skilled players back.” Last season the Cougars finished with a 6-4 record in the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference and made it to the second round of postseason play before being eliminated.
Eagles look to ‘climb Everest’ under new leadership in 2026
SOAP LAKE — The Soap Lake Eagles are heading into the fall with a new head coach as Tony O’Neel steps into the leadership position for the 2026 season. O’Neel said he is excited for this opportunity to work with a program and sport he is very familiar with. “I’m pretty thrilled that not only just the school, but the kids are buying into having me coach two sports,” said O’Neel. “Doesn’t happen at many places, but that’s my two favorite sports.” He has had prior experience coaching for Soap Lake, serving currently as the head coach for the boys soccer team and acting as an assistant coach under Garrett Devine’s leadership last season.
