Polson’s Morgan Delaney wins Libby Invitational

LIBBY — Led by Polson’s Morgan Delaney, Montana girls held the top four individual places at the Libby Invitational cross country meet held Saturday.
Couer d’Alene had the groupings.
The Vikings swept the team titles at the meet, which drew 14 schools from Montana and Idaho. Polson was the top girls team from Montana, finishing third with 90 points; Delaney won the race in 17 minutes, 23.64 seconds and her sister Quinn was third at 18:14.86.
In between was Glacier’s Lauren Bissen at 18:14.86; in fourth was Libby standout Capri Farmer, at 18:24.66.
Coeur d’Alene girls held three of the top 13 spots and the Vikings scored 64 points to 71 for Sandpoint, Idaho. Glacier was fourth at 131. Flathead didn’t bring a full scoring team but Emery Eash finished 11 for the Bravettes.
Sara Dumouchel, an eighth grader, finished 16th for the Lady Pirates.
On the boys said, Coeur d’Alene runners finished 2-5-7-14 on the way to the Vikings scoring 47 points. Sandpoint was second at 61, followed by Timberlake, Idaho at 89. Flathead (110) and Glacier (126) were fourth and fifth; Carson Thorne was Flathead’s top finisher, taking sixth in 16:00.76; and Chris Holland took 13th for the Braves.
Gabe Ackerly was Glacier’s top runner, taking 16th in 16:21.34.
Polson’s Jackson Bontadelli was the top runner from Montana, taking fourth in 16:48.35, 16.24 seconds behind winner Kai Budensiek of Sandpoint.
Whitefish’s Porter Shehan was 10th and Libby’s Cody Watson was 12th.
