Bobcats grapple with illness and injury
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 3 months, 2 weeks AGO
Battered around a bit by injury and illness, the Superior Bobcat wrestling team that was left standing went into battle at the Mission Invitational Saturday.
Wrestling at 132 pounds in round robin competition, Dillon Arbogast won first place at 132 pounds for the Bobcats.
Falling only to BillyRay Hollota of Plains-Hot Springs in the championship match, Bobcat Wade Calloway won second place at 144, eighth grade grappler Cael Crabb wrestled down third place at 138 and Ethan Durovey placed fifth at 157.
Superior coach Charlie Crabb said injuries and illness affected the Cats last week. “We have a bunch of kids sick, have had a heck of a time getting healthy all season,” he said, adding that he is hoping to have more wrestlers available this week for the final regular season meet of the season, the Buzz Lucey Invitational in Eureka Saturday.
The Western B-C meet is at the Butte Civic Center the week after.
On the injury side of things, Bobcat junior Turner Milender, the No. 4 ranked B-C wrestler at 165 pounds last week, injured an elbow during mixer action in Arlee last week and sat out most of the Mission meet as a result.
Coach Crabb says he expects Milender’s injury to “be fine for divisionals,” and that they will continue to closely monitor his condition.
