KELLOGG — Junior Macy Murphey scored 17 of her game-high 31 points in the third quarter for the Tigers in a nonleague win over the Wildcats at Andrews Gymnasium. 

“We shot the ball really well,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “We moved the ball around really well and took some good shots. It was really good to see that on the offensive side of things.” 

Senior Malia Miller had 21 points and 11 assists, senior Payton Young six rebounds and five assists, freshman Elly Milligan seven rebounds, sophomore Shae Jones six points and eight rebounds and junior Sophie Holecek 14 points and seven rebounds for Timberlake. 

Sophomore Peyton Storey scored 12 points for Kellogg.

KELLOGG — Senior Draeden Taylor scored 13 of his game-high 22 points in the second half for the Wildcats in a Central Idaho League win over the Spartans at Andrews Gymnasium. 

Senior Cayden Honnerlaw had 12 points and 14 rebounds, nine on the offensive end for Kellogg, which finished with 17 offensive rebounds. 

“We just created a lot of extra possessions,” said Kellogg coach Mike Martin, whose team also had 14 steals. “When we were able to get out and run, it created some things for our shooters.” 

Senior Ian Lamanna scored 20 points for Priest River.

GRANGEVILLE — Senior Draeden Taylor hit three 3-pointers and scored 12 of his game-high 22 points in the third quarter as the Kellogg Wildcats broke the game open after halftime in a Central Idaho League win over Grangeville on Saturday. 

“The guys responded really well coming out of the half,” said Kellogg coach Mike Martin, whose team led 18-8 after the first quarter, but had its lead cut to 24-23 at halftime. “We got out to a great start and then they closed the half on a 15-2 run. We really challenged our guys to stop giving up the second chance opportunities and play more solid defensively.” 

Junior Evan Vindasius scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half for Kellogg, which made five 3-pointers and outscored Grangeville 24-12 in the third quarter. 

“Hitting those shots from beyond the arch really gave us a spark,” Martin said. “There was definitely a pep in our step once we saw the ball go through the hoop again.” 

The Wildcats are in third place in the CIL, behind Orofino and St. Maries. 

Junior Gage Smith scored 17 points for Grangeville.

Lowden White and Chase Scribner lost tough championship matches. In the third/fourth place matches, Jayce Haynes took third while Kevin Watson finished fourth. Nayton O’Neill and AJ Peak both finished fifth.
