The Whitefish Theatre Company presents a night of soul, funk and storytelling with a Feb. 6 performance by Bassel & The Supernaturals.

“Bassel & The Supernaturals tells the story of Bassel Almadani's experience as a first generation Syrian-American using soulful melodies, funk inspired rhythms, and captivating lyrics regarding love, loss, and the feeling of ‘otherness,’ according to the band’s bio at basselmusic.com.

Drawing from his experience as a first-generation Syrian-American growing up in the Midwest, Almadani crafts songs that speak to identity, belonging, love, and resilience, backed by a powerhouse band with razor-sharp musicianship.

“Echoing Stevie Wonder’s rhythm and blues, Jamiroquai’s social justice centered lyricism over jazz-infused funk, and Steely Dan’s seamless blend of American music, Bassel & The Supernaturals evoke joy and thoughtfulness from audiences across the globe. Deeply inspired by Otis Redding, Bassel uses the stage as a vehicle to unite his listeners and share the story of his cultural duality,” the band’s bio says.

The band has performed on hundreds of stages including at the John F. Kennedy Center, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Millennium Park in Chicago, SXSW and Summerfest.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center, 1 Central Ave., Whitefish.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students and can be purchased online at whitefishtheatreco.org, at the box office, or by calling 862-5371.

This show is sponsored by Mary Jane Westermark and Wayne Sand.
