Polson Seniors: A March or April winter's end

I don’t care what that groundhog saw a few days ago. Winter won’t officially end until March 20th at 8:46 a.m. I say winter won’t be over until April 15th, just after the tax deadline.

AARP tax assistance will be open from Feb. 2 to April 15 on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pre-registration is highly recommended, and information packets are now available at the center.
A toenail clinic will be held in February. Please sign up to reserve a time. The cost is $30.
The cribbage sign-up will begin this month. A name and phone number are required. Cribbage will be organized weekly on Wednesday from 12:30-3 p.m. All skill levels are welcome. This is not league-affiliated and has no fees.
Activities at the Polson Center, open to all, include: Wednesday Play Day to play cards, board games, dominoes, chess or mahjong (invite a foursome); self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; bingo at 6 p.m. First Wednesdays playing card bingo at 6 p.m. (elimination-style); and pinochle, 12:30 p.m. on Mondays (no pass) and Thursdays (standard). The pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Bridge and Mahjong groups meet regularly at the center.
The Bowling Fun League is on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. at the Sportspage Bowl. The Spinning Wheelers meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; call 208-520-1013.
A veteran’s service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month. Kiwanis will meet at 12 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the center.
We have space for small groups to meet for social, health or educational purposes. Wednesdays are best; other weekdays are as well. Our community center is open for special events on weekends and evenings. Call for details.
Sit-down meals are available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays and are delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.
Upcoming main dishes include: chicken enchilada, Feb. 5; pepperoni Hawaiian pizza, Feb. 6; split pea soup, Feb. 9; meatloaf, Feb. 10; chicken pot pie, Feb. 11; ham with scalloped potatoes, Feb. 12; and BBQ ribs, Feb. 13.
