POST FALLS — After a back-and-forth first half, it was mostly Post Falls after intermission.

The 6A Post Falls Trojans led by 14 points early in the second quarter, saw the 5A Lakeland Hawks cut that lead to one just before halftime, before the Trojans pulled away in the second half for a 66-47 victory on Tuesday night at The Arena.

“We had a great first quarter — everything I could ask for,” said Post Falls coach Jayson Ulrich, whose team led 19-7 after one. “Then we got complacent and allowed them to shoot. The third quarter and fourth quarter, we got back to our ways.”

Junior Cashton Bodman scored nine of his game-high 21 points in the first quarter for Post Falls (14-5). Senior Connor Carver scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half, and finished with 10 rebounds. Senior Jaxon Lysne had 16 points and three steals. Bodman had five rebounds, Isaiah Naylor four assists.

Senior Jaron Yager had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Lakeland (7-9).

Senior Peyton Hillman scored all 13 of his points in the first half, and also had eight rebounds and four assists. Junior Wyatt Fuhriman also scored 13.

"I was proud of how our guys competed and battled them for about three quarters," Lakeland coach Caleb De Fabiis said. “Both of our seniors stepped up and we got a nice spark off the bench from some guards who don’t usually see many minutes. With guys banged up and sick, it was good to see others step up. But credit to Post Falls; they’re a well-oiled machine. Coached well, well-run program with some really good players, and we knew it would be a tough one.”

“I think we get a lot of teams’ best, and I appreciate that, because it makes us better,” Ulrich said. “Lakeland came at us tonight,  didn’t back down and kept things interesting.”

Lakeland returns to action next Tuesday at home vs. Moscow.

Post Falls is idle until Lewiston visits on Feb. 13.
