Polson knocks off Bigfork in Northwest A boys hoops

POLSON — The Northwest A boys basketball race continues to be jumbled, with Polson downing Bigfork 51-40 behind 13 points from Kyson Michel and strong defense over the middle two quarters.
Cody Haggard added 10 points for the Pirates (6-7 overall, 3-4 in league). Michel, who hit two 3-pointers, and Malakai Curley each scored six points in a fast-paced fourth period.
Austin Savik hit four 3-pointers and led the Vikings (9-6, 6-3 in league) with 12 points; Tamret Savik added 10.

LIBBY — Jett Pitts scored nine points in the first quarter and finished with 14 and Columbia Falls used a balanced offense to put away Libby.
Pitts hit two 3-pointers and six different Wildcats hit threes. Easton Brooks added 11 points for Columbia Falls (9-4 overall, 5-2 in the Northwest A), which got 28 points from its bench. Tristan Andersen scored 14 points for Libby (2-12, 0-8 in league), matching Pitts for game honors.

WHITEFISH — Matiya Nenemay and Kolby Finley scored 20 points each for Ronan, which overcame an early deficit.
Reyd Hobart hit three 3-pointers and Aiden Rogers hit another as Whitefish (5-8, 1-6 in league) surged to a 22-15 lead after one quarter. Then Nenemay and Finley combined for 17 second-quarter points to help the Chiefs (11-3, 6-2 in the Northwest A) overtake the Bulldogs.
Nenemay hit his second and third threes in the third quarter as Ronan built its lead to 52-40. Jhett McDonald added 10 points for the Chiefs; he hit one 3-pointer.
