PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Driggs drains seven 3-pointers as Sandpoint girls cruise past Lewiston
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 hour, 53 minutes AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | February 5, 2026 1:00 AM

LEWISTON — After Livia Driggs hit her first 3-pointer early on at Bengal Court on Tuesday night, you could tell the Sandpoint High standout was in for a career night.
A junior guard, Driggs erupted for a career-high 27 points, which included a career-high seven 3-pointers — five of which came in the first half — junior Jordyn Tomco contributed 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and added three assists and a team-high three steals to the stat sheet, and the Lady Bulldogs hit 14 triples in a 27-point 5A Inland Empire League defeat of the Lady Bengals at Lewiston High.
"Livia was the hot hand tonight; it's fun to see those shots go down for her," Sandpoint High head coach Madi Schoening said. "27 points is a dominating performance, and it was fun to see her really catch fire and find the bottom of the net from the 3-point line."
Junior Brecken Mire registered nine points, including a 3-pointer, dished out a team-high eight assists and had four rebounds for Sandpoint, which built up a 36-11 lead by intermission in what was the league and regular season finale for the Lady Bulldogs.
"It was a good team game and a really good way to finish the regular season," coach Schoening said, also noting that her team's ability to be effective in multiple different defensive sets on the night played a key part in the win. "The girls showed up ready to play and were coachable... we're excited heading into districts."
Avery Balmer tallied 13 points, including a 3-pointer, and five rebounds for No. 4 Lewiston (7-13), which will travel to No. 1 Lakeland (16-4) for the first round of the 5A District 1-2 tournament on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Junior Jaylah Butler scored four points, including a 3-pointer, and grabbed two steals, Driggs, Mire, and senior Jasmin Laing also had two steals, and juniors Carly Laybourne and Sienna Todd-Murray each hit a 3-pointer in the victory for No. 2 Sandpoint (16-4), which will face No. 3 Moscow (10-10) at home in the first round of the 5A District 1-2 tournament on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.
