PLUMMER — Last time these two teams played, it was Bonners Ferry who defeated the Lakeside Knights by two points in a testy overtime thriller. This time, Lakeside came away with a four-point victory after they orchestrated a wild fourth quarter comeback at home on Feb. 3.
The Badgers jumped out to an 8-3 lead before the Knights responded with a 10-1 run to take the lead. Bonners Ferry responded, but it was advantage Lakeside by two points after the first quarter.
A quick burst gave Bonners Ferry a 32-25 lead midway through the second quarter, but once again Lakeside reeled them in. The Badgers ended the half up 35-33.
They led by five points nearing the end of the third quarter and held a four-point lead over the Knights with eight minutes left in the game.
With 30 seconds left, the Badgers were clinging to a one-point lead before a steal turned into a three-point play for Lakeside, who took a narrow four-point victory.
Peyton Hinthorn led the team with 18 points and Sulay Abubakari had 15 points, shooting five for five from the line.
Jameson Cartwright-Kissee had 14 points, including eight in the fourth quarter as he made four three-pointers. Ty Schrock scored all of his 13 points in the second and third quarters. Risten Allred had one of his highest scoring games of the season, adding six points.
The Badgers are now 7-8 on the season. They next play at Kellogg on Feb. 10, before Timberlake seven days later. Lakeside moved to 15-2 and are ranked 38 in Idaho.
Bonners Ferry have now played their first of three Tuesday away games in a row.
