PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Bonners Ferry falls to Timberlake in league play

SPIRIT LAKE — With their league season on the line away to Timberlake and on a two-game losing streak, Bonners Ferry's girls basketball team could not get past the Tigers away from home, falling by 17 points on Feb. 3.
Eva Willis had a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds, while Jaycee Bateman was the team’s high scorer with 11 points for her second double digit points haul against Timberlake this season.
The Badgers essentially played the entire game with the starting five of Taren and Jaycee Bateman, Nolie Hiatt, Willis and Bristol Hill. Kayle Petersen was the only player to feature off the bench.
It was the first game in over a week for Bonners Ferry, who quickly fell behind 17-12 after the first quarter. The second quarter went the way of the Badgers, but they still trailed by four points going into halftime.
That gap grew to seven points with eight minutes left in the game, before Timberlake closed the game out with a 17-7 final quarter to end with their second win over Bonners Ferry this season.
Taren Bateman grabbed 12 rebounds, while adding eight points and four assists. Hill had six points and four assists, while Hiatt had a team high three blocks.
The final game of Bonners Ferry’s regular season is on Saturday, Feb. 7 against Flathead Valley. They next play away against Kellogg on Feb. 5 at 12 p.m.
Timberlake are ranked 24 in the state and are now 13-6 on the season. The Badgers fell to 9-8.
