• WRESTLING

COEUR d’ALENE — Trailing 6-2 early in his match on Wednesday, Coeur d’Alene junior Dominic Prangley just had to stay in the fight.

His teammates soon followed.

Prangley bounced back for a 13-10 win over Post Falls freshman Titus Wise at 144 pounds for the Vikings, who beat Post Falls 40-33 in a dual at Elmer Jordan Court.

“We just told the guys to get in there and battle,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “Dominic fell behind on a good wrestler and we told him to keep pushing the pace. He did a good job of coming back tonight, and hopefully it’s a good confidence booster for him.”

Coeur d’Alene’s Carter Newby followed with a pin in 5:41 after also trailing.

“Carter getting that pin was big,” Moffat said. “It was just another match we were able to turn around. We just keep telling our guys to keep wrestling because you never know what’s going to happen. Post Falls, they’ve got some really good depth and can win a state title easily in a few weeks. Our team has a chance to do something as well, but you just can’t have a lot of hiccups at districts.”

“Those first couple of matches, Titus was up big, but Prangley’s a gamer and did what he needed to do,” Post Falls coach Jeremy Zender said. “With Judah, Carter’s really tough and he put one on him (Brazle) at the (North Idaho Rumble). Our guys were battling and you can’t be mad when they’re fighting their hearts out. If we wrestle that dual 10 times, we each probably win five.”

Ty Paulin (175 pounds) and Micah Miller (98) had pins for Coeur d’Alene, which hosts Timberlake next Wednesday.

Colton Austin (157), Damion Hamilton (165), Tristan Mendenhall (106) and Matthew Hamilton (138) had pins for Post Falls, which travels to Lewiston tonight.
