Whitefish Winter Carnival Grand Parade is Saturday

The 67th Annual Whitefish Winter Carnival dawns. The theme is “Out of this World.” 

The Grand Parade will make its way through downtown Whitefish on Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m.  

Earlier in the day, the Penguin Plunge at Whitefish City Beach begins at 11 a.m. Money raised through dips in the lake go to Special Olympics Montana. 

The Kiddie Carnival is in the Whitefish Middle School north gym from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Run by the Whitefish High School Leo Club, it includes lots of fun activities and prizes. 

The pie social is from 12:30 - 3 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo church.  

Immediately following the parade, the post parade social is at the Firebrand Hotel.  

On Sunday, the annual pancake breakfast hosted by the Rotary Club at the Moose Lodge is from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.  

A community Nordic ski day hosted by Glacier Nordic Club is still on, snow or sun, on Sunday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the golf course and Big Mountain Trailhead. 

On Saturday, festival goers should expect great fun and encounters with aliens, Carnival creatures and a large crowd.  

There is no street parking permitted in the downtown district all day Saturday. Any vehicles in the closure area and parade route will be towed.  

The East First Street/Spokane Avenue parking lot across from Whitefish Middle School will be closed all day. 

Full road closures downtown go into effect at noon Saturday.

Expect road closures on Central Avenue from Depot Street to East Fourth Street and all intersecting side streets between Baker Avenue and Spokane Avenue. Through traffic should take Baker Avenue.
