Walter Craig Strobel, 74, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away Jan. 31, 2026, at Silverton of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation in Silverton, Idaho. Walter was born May 25, 1951, in Kellogg, Idaho, a son of the late Walter and Gwendolyn (Waltman) Strobel.
Walter met the love of his life, Mary Lou Cerini, in Petaluma, Calif., where his family was stationed on the military base. Walter and Mary Lou were married July 6, 1974, in Petaluma. The couple had two children, Katie and Lindsy, and later, the couple returned to Walter’s home in the Silver Valley. Mary Lou passed away April 12, 2025.
Together, Walter and Mary Lou owned and operated a restaurant in California for 15 years. Walter was known as “The Jerky Guy," distributing beef jerky to various stores for over 25 years. Walter and Mary Lou enjoyed going to thrift stores and garage sales, always chasing a good bargain.
In addition to his parents and his dear wife, Mary Lou, Walter is preceded by his stepfather, Eugene Ellingson, and a sister, Roxanne Clifton.
He is survived by his two children, Lindsy Strobel of Osburn, Idaho, and Katie (Matt) Murray of Mullan, Idaho; two grandchildren, Ayden and Alivia Murray; a brother, Scott Ellingson of Kennewick, Wash., as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Walter’s request, cremation will take place and no services are planned.
