While snow wasn't abundant at the Kootenai Nordic Club's South Flower Creek Cross Country ski trails, there was just enough for the Kootenai Outdoor Adventure Program to teach Libby youth about the sport.

Nearly three dozen Libby Public School students completed the Kootenai Outdoor Adventure Program's cross country ski program this year.

Teacher and KOAP leader Bill Moe had 32 students in the program, split into two different nights through January. Moe said among the changes this season were keeping all the gear at the course, making everything easier.

Moe said the groups were fortunate to have that Treasure Mountain shade, a little elevation and a good groomer to make it happen. He added that some of the students were interested in the biathlon training that was happening at the same time with Ben Scott's program. Moe thanked the volunteer ski coaches, Joe and Erin Taylor, Dr. Rice and Ann Weber.
